Słowo wstępne
Jest przywilejem móc napisać krótkie wprowadzenie do prezentowanej tu niezwykłej książki opublikowanej przez naszego eminentnego członka Juliana Auleytnera. Jako Prezydent EAF mogę tylko potwierdzić, że czas tej publikacji nie mógł być naprawdę lepszy; właśnie w tym roku EAF poświęciła swój rocznik OPUS bogatej treściowo filatelistyce w Polsce. Profesor Auleytner, podobnie jak szereg innych ważnych autorów publikacji OPUS 2009, poruszył już wiele aspektów polskiej filatelistyki, czyniąc to więcej przez artykuły, które nam nie opowiadają wszystkiego w detalach, ale raczej pobudzają ciekawość i pozwalają uczyć się wciąż o różnych problemach. Obecna publikacja różni się względem OPUSU, gdyż tu prof. Auleytner nie został ograniczony liczbą stron. Tylko tu może zilustrować rzeczywisty, pełny wymiar i zasięg swojej wiedzy i poszukiwań.
Czytelnik powinien od razu zrozumieć, że Autor daje tu próbkę rozległych badań i systematycznego podejścia, w które się zaangażował. Wolno mi stwierdzić, że wobec trudnej i bardzo kompleksowej dziedziny tu opisywanej Autor z sukcesem zastosował innowacyjne podejście, które skutkuje wobec nas Czytelników uwydatnioną przejrzystością prezentacji i łatwiejszym zrozumieniem. Książkę czyta się prawie jak powieść, każdy walor jest dobrze umiejscowiony w czasie i przestrzeni. Historia została dopowiedziana, a Autor odnosi sukces, wskazując dla każdego obiektu wszystkie jego lokalnie ważne cechy. Jednak znacznie ważniejsze jest stosowanie przez Autora „próby ogniowej” wobec rzeczywistego użycia znaczków: ilustruje on i uzasadnia swoje stwierdzenia, prezentując pozytywne wyniki w postaci listów, kart pocztowych i telegramów pochodzących z obiegu urzędowego, handlowego, wojskowego i prywatnego. Dostarczając takich informacji Autor nie tylko wzbogaca naszą wiedzę o tym, co może być uznane za prawdziwe lub nie, ale również pobudza nasze zainteresowania wobec przedstawionych spraw poprzez ukierunkowanie na dalsze badania i udzielanie rady doświadczonym ekspertom. Z tych samych powodów Autor obniża także próg kształcenia dla tych chętnych, którzy zaznajamiają się z tym wspaniałym fragmentem polskiej filatelistyki, jakim jest historia poczty II Rzeczpospolitej.
Wreszcie Autor dzieli się ze wszystkimi jego najnowszymi odkryciami, włączając w to wyspecjalizowaną dziedzinę jaką są znaki cenzury. Jeżeli ta praca jest z pewnością encyklopedycznym przewodnikiem dla wydań z lat 1918-1920, to wolno nam sądzić, że jest to mile widziane uzupełnienie dla naszego wydawnictwa OPUS 2009. Zatem z przyjemnością możemy potwierdzić, że ta obszerna praca z powodu zaliczenia jej do głównej klasyki polskiej literatury filatelistycznej jest także opublikowana pod auspicjami Europejskiej Akademii Filatelistyki.
I jeszcze jedna sprawa: jeżeli jesteśmy pewni, że nasz eminentny członek profesor Auleytner z pewnością znalazł wiele satysfakcji w napisaniu tej książki, to także spodziewamy się, że będzie on dalej kontynuować tę problematykę i w ciągu kilku lat zaskoczy nas wszystkich kolejną, wybitną pracą filatelistyczną.

Introduction Word
It is a privilege to be able to write a brief introduction to the present remarkable book published by our distinguished member Julian Aulaytner. As Prezident of the AEP I can but confirm that the timing of its publication could not have been better as, indeed, it is also on this very year 2009 that the Academic Européenne de Philatélie has devoted its annual OPUS publication to the rich pilately of Poland. Professor Aulaytner as well as several other very distingished authors in the 2009 OPUS covered already many aspects of Polish philately, but it more throught articles which do not tell all in detail but rather stimulate one’s curiosity and drive to learn more about the varied subjects.
The present publication is different from OPUS, for here Professor Aulaytner is no longer confined to a limited number of pages. It is only here that he can illustrate the real full dimension and extent of his knowledge and effors.
The reader shall at once realise that here the author gives proof of the extensive research and systematic approach he indulged in. I would dare state that, for the present difficult and very complex domain he describes, he has been successful in putting down an innovative approach which has resulted, for us readers, in enhanced clarity and an easier understanding. The book reads almost as a novel, for each item is well positioned in time and space, History is there to be told and the author succeeds in pintpointing for each locality all the revelant elements.
More important even is his systematic use of the „acid test” relative to the genueine use of the stamps: he illustrates adn justifies his statements by presenting positive prof under the form of covers, postcards and telegrams stemming from official, commercial, military abd private mails. By providing such information he not only enhances our knowledge on what might be considered genuine or not, but also stimulates our interest in porsuining matters through further investigation and the soliciting of the advise of learned experts. By the same token he has also lowered the learning threshold for those eager to familiarise themeselves with this superb aspect of Polish philately as is the postal history o the 2nd Polish Republic.
And, last but not least, he shares with all his most recent discoverie, including in the specialised domain of censorship markings. If this work is centrainly an encyclopaedic guide tu the 1918-1920 issues, we also would dare consider it s a welcome addition to our own 2009 OPUS. We therefore with pleasure can confirm that this extensive work, due to the become a major classic in Polish philatelic literature, is also published under the auspices of European Academy of Philately.
Just one more point: if we are sure that our distinguished member Professor Aulaytner certainly has found a lot satisfaction in writing this book we also hope he will pursue matters even further and, within a few years, surprise us all with another outstanding philatelic work!
